Marketing in the digital age requires diverse perspectives and skills. Put simply, the digital marketer has to wear a lot of hats. In my digital marketing journey, I've developed professional experience in many areas, nearly to the point of a full-service agency all-in-one. And if I don't already know how to do something? I have an insatiable drive to add new tools to my tool belt.
Python Pandas, Django, etc.
Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
Tableau
Front end design HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Figma
Google Data Studio
Google Tag Manager
Video editing Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro X
Google Analytics
Digital ad platforms Meta Ads, Google Ads, etc.
Logic Pro X
Email marketing MailChimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.
This is not an exhaustive record of every program I've worked in. That would be a long list! Instead, these are the technical skills I am comfortable with, proficient in, and use regularly. (Also, if I can program with Python then Microsoft Word is a cakewalk.)
I have mixed feelings about visualizing skills like this since they are entirely subjective and rely on one's self-reporting ability. I might have been too humble in some areas or too vain in others. Ultimately, a model aims to simplify a complex matter.
If you notice, none of the bars above are completely full. This is intentional, since there's always room for growth. There's much more to learn, both in the technical skills I already possess and the ones I hope to add to this growing list in the future.
In April 2024, realizing I needed a new challenge, I left my agency role to pursue freelance work. The decision to leave a comfortable environment with a steady salary and benefits was difficult. The proverbial plateau, though, was my enemy as I sought further professional growth. I genuinely believe the purest moments in life with the most personal growth happen beyond the edge of one’s comfort zone.
